About Amy Moes Williams, Ph.D.

 Amy Moes Williams’ area of expertise is PTSD as well as anxiety and depression. Dr. Williams is currently a member of the American Psychological Association and has been licensed as a psychologist in the state of Texas since 1999.

Consulting/speaking/education: Dr. Williams is a national trainer in the VA Health Care System for Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD. She has trained mental health professionals in the VA, Department of Defense, universities, state agencies/community mental health, and private institutions as well as international efforts. She is involved in ongoing research efforts in the treatment of PTSD. Dr. Williams is currently the clinic director at the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Metrocare in Addison, Texas.

Education: Dr. Williams received her B.A. in psychology from Texas Tech University with a minor in business management. Dr. Williams received her M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Texas. She completed her internship at the Palo Alto V.A. Medical Center. While there, she trained at Stanford-affiliated units and in the areas of trauma, serious mental illness, family therapy, substance use, and geriatric psychology. Her postdoctoral training at the University of Missouri-St. Louis focused on research and treatment of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. Following her training, she returned to Texas and was employed as a graduate-level instructor at the University of North Texas before starting her private practice in 2006. Dr. Williams has published articles and chapters in the area of PTSD, grief, and constructivism.
